Youth Run Recording Studio

In 2007, the first youth run recording studio in Baltimore opened to the public.

There are artists who create music and are not concerned with mainstream notoriety. "I don't hear what I wish to hear therefore I shall create it." This attitude is why self production is important. If you create music because you love it then you should be able to do so. Producing art is art. Youth deserve to have the tools (knowledge) that enable them to decide.

Two of us, Michael Hicks (age 14) and Warren Hill (age 15) solved a problem where youth were selling drugs to pay for commercial studio time.  Michael and Warren wrote a successful grant to YAR that funded the FYD studio, thereby making studio time available without selling drugs.
